In today’s newsletter, I discuss HBO Max in Europe, the cost of a Super Bowl party and a Super Bowl Holiday.

MEDIA: HBO Max in Europe

HBO Max, a video streaming service from WarnerMedia, is continuing its rollout in Europe.

According to multiple news reports, HBO Max will launch in 15 more countries in Europe as of March 8 - most of those launches are in Central and Eastern Europe.

Pink’s Bottom Line 

HBO Max, like other US streaming services, is looking overseas for growth as domestic market growth moderates.

As such, look for many major streaming services also to focus much of their future growth efforts internationally in 2022.

MONEY: Cost of Super Bowl Party

If you’re throwing a Super Bowl party this year, it will cost you more than it did a year ago.

According to a report from Wells Fargo, a party this year will cost between 8% and 14% more than in 2021.

Pink’s Bottom Line

Notably, chicken wings and hamburgers will be much more expensive at that party this year.

The higher cost of a Super Bowl party is just the latest sign that inflation is impacting the American consumer just about everywhere.

SPORTS: Super Bowl Holiday

The public schools of Cincinnati said that students won’t have classes the day after the Super Bowl this year.

That’s, of course, because the Cincinnati Bengals are playing in this year’s Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams.

Pink’s Bottom Line 

While this certainly is welcome news for most students in Cincinnati, the rest of country will still go to school — and work — on the Monday after the Super Bowl.

That said, the public schools of Cincinnati have the right idea — the Monday after the Super Bowl should become an official US holiday.
