Pink's Bottom Line on Media, Money and Sports
International box office, office occupancy rates and the NFL MVP favorite
In today’s newsletter, I discuss the international box office, office occupancy rates and the NFL MVP favorite.
Also, thank you to everyone who attended my talk at The Money Show earlier today. I will post a link in the newsletter to a recorded version of my presentation once it’s available.
MEDIA: International Box Office
No Time to Die, a James Bond movie released in many international markets this weekend, enjoyed a strong debut at the box office.
Pink's Bottom Line
Those are huge numbers considering that the film won’t be released in the two biggest movie markets in the world — China and the United States — until the end of the month.
The strong international box office performance of No Time to Die reflects the notion that blockbuster movies still draw huge audiences in cinemas and theaters despite the backdrop of a global pandemic.
MONEY: Office Occupancy Rates
Office occupancy rates in ten major cities in the United States increased for the third consecutive week, according to the Kastle Back to Work Barometer, a measure of office occupancy from Kastle Systems, a leading office security firm.
Pink's Bottom Line
Nine of the ten cities showed increased office occupancy rates with only Houston showing a slight decline.
New York and San Francisco both showed the biggest weekly percentage increase in office occupancy among those ten major cities.
As such, as coronavirus cases decline, which has happened over the past few weeks, it looks office occupancy rates are beginning to climb.
SPORTS: NFL MVP Favorite
Kyler Murray, quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals, the NFL’s only unbeaten team, now is the favorite to win the league’s MVP award.
Pink's Bottom Line
Allen, Mahomes, Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers are often mentioned as the top young quarterbacks in the NFL.
Meanwhile, Murray is having a better season so far than all of those players, and also plays in the NFC West, the NFL’s toughest division, so his performance so far this year is even more impressive.
As such, Murray should no longer be overlooked — he should also be considered as one of the top young quarterbacks in the league.
