Weekly Recap: Pink's Bottom Line on Media, Money and Sports
Top takeaways from the week plus my NFL pick of the week
Here are the top items and takeaways from this week’s newsletter plus I give my NFL pick of the week.
MEDIA
Only 36% of Americans surveyed in a recent Gallup poll said they have a “great deal” or a “fair amount” of trust in the media’s ability to report of news fairly and accurately. Notably and not surprisingly, that trust differed widely depending on political affiliation.
MONEY
SPORTS
NFL Pick of the Week
Minnesota Vikings (-2.5) at Carolina Panthers
Minnesota, despite its 2-3 record, could easily be 4-1 this season, and the Vikings finally won a close game last weekend.
Carolina, meanwhile, lost last weekend to the Philadelphia Eagles, and the team’s starting quarterback, Sam Darnold, looks like he’s regressing from his strong start to the season. Plus, Carolina running Christian McCaffrey will miss Sunday’s game against the Vikings with an injury.
As such, I see two teams heading in two different directions at the moment — the Vikings are getting better, and the Panthers are struggling.
Look for the Vikings to win this game and to cover the point spread easily as Minnesota will win by at least a touchdown.
NFL Pick of the Week Record
Outright: 4-1
Against the Spread: 4-1
